Harry Leroy Maigatter

May 10, 1943 - August 8, 2015

Harry Leroy Maigatter, lifetime resident of Colorado, passed away August 8, 2015, at the Veterans Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado after an extended illness.

Leroy was born in Collbran, Colorado on May 10, 1943, to Wardell and Jennie Maigatter where he was raised on the family ranch on the Grand Mesa.

From Collbran, Leroy joined the US Navy in 1962, and served on the USS Midway during the Vietnam War as a plane captain. While serving in the Navy he met and married Dixie Evelyn Talbott of Victoria, Texas. Leroy was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1967. Together, Leroy and Evelyn raised three children. After divorcing in 1993, Leroy continued his career as a pipe fitter/plumber until retiring to his home in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Leroy is survived by his two brothers, Harold of Washington State and Jerry of Clifton, Colorado; three children, Dixie Lee Maigatter, Susie Maigatter-Kawcak and Glen Maigatter, all of Craig, Colorado; four grandchildren and four great -grandchildren.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday August 15, 2015, 10:00 a.m. at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary in Grand Junction, Colorado.
