Helen May Neverdahl, age 97, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026 in Grand Junction, Colorado. She was born and raised in Denver, Colorado, and was raised by a hard‑working family during World War II. Her parents, Vivian and William Simpson, instilled in her the values of resilience, responsibility, and dedication that guided her throughout her life.
Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert “Bob” Neverdahl; her sister, Edith Holland; and her brother, Bill Simpson.
She is survived by her son John Neverdahl and his wife Sandie, their son Zach Neverdahl, and his wife Katie Neverdahl, and their daughter, Helen’s great‑granddaughter, Danika Neverdahl; and by her son Mark Neverdahl and his wife Kim, and their sons Colton and Logan Neverdahl. She is also survived by her brother, Wayne Simpson.
In 1963, Helen moved to Palisade, Colorado, and lived on East Orchard Mesa for 63 years raising a family. She took great pride in her strong work ethic and spent many years working in a variety of roles. Before moving to Palisade, she worked at Carlson Frink Dairy in Denver. After relocating, she continued working at Crescent Creamery in Grand Junction, Monarch Aviation, and City Market, where she was known as a dependable and friendly presence. She was always willing to jump in to help the team and be a great coworker and friend.
Above all else, Helen’s greatest joy was her family and her animals. She loved her dogs, and was kind, steady, and quietly strong, with a sarcastic sense of humor that appeared at just the right moments. She showed her love through actions—by always being there, by working hard, and by caring deeply for those around her. She took special pride in watching her family grow and cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great‑granddaughter.
Helen will be remembered for her warmth, resilience, and the simple, meaningful way she lived her life. Her legacy lives on through the family she loved so deeply and the many lives she touched along the way.
A memorial service honoring Helen’s life will be held at Callahan‑Edfast Mortuary, with the date and time to be announced soon
