

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of James R. Franklin, 92, who peacefully departed the world on March 24th, 2025 at Hope West Hospice in Grand Junction, CO. Born August 2nd, 1932 to James B. Franklin and Helen Reeve, James (aka Jimmie, Jim, Dad, Papa) leaves behind a legacy of strength and resilience and a life rich in family gatherings and world travels. James spent his early childhood days living on his family ranch near Roan Creek. He enjoyed telling the story of picking up his fellow school mate, a five-year-old little girl, on his horse to give her a ride to school with him. Jim was married to the love of his life, Marylou, for 66 beautiful years before she preceded him in death on January 10, 2017. Jim and Marylou loved traveling the world together. They flew on the Concorde, sailed aboard the Queen Elizabeth, and drove all over the U.S. in their motorhome. They established many lifelong friendships within a Motorhome and Corvette Club. Jim owned many hot rod cars throughout the years, but Corvettes would always remain his favorite. Jim leaves behind his pride and joy, his children: Brad Franklin, Terry Franklin (Pam), and Lisa Lauer (Lyle), his brother; John Franklin (Sheryl), 24 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife; Marylou, his son; Mark Franklin, and his grandson; Jeremy Franklin.
