

Joel was born to Ben and Mary (Jones) Pace on November 19, 1944 in Paonia, CO. Joel lived in many different states including Texas, Wyoming, and Oklahoma; but Colorado was always his true home. Joel gave a total of 5 years and eleven months of active service to the U.S. Army and served as a Sergeant in Berlin Germany and Fort Carson, CO.
Joel worked hard as a coal miner for 15 years. He also was a cabinet maker during his time living in Texas. Joel’s interests and hobbies mainly included fishing, fishing, and more fishing! It was his passion, and he took every opportunity that he had to go fishing.
Joel had two daughters and one son; Ben, Sandra, and Jolene. He was a caring and loving father, and his kids meant everything to him. Joel will be sorely missed by so many friends and family.
Joel is survived by his daughters, Jolene Nelson and her husband Roy of Delta, CO, and Sandra Ray and her husband Barry of Benson, AZ. His son, Ben Pace and his wife Kathy of Delta, CO; his sister Bennie Christie of Grand Junction, CO, and four brothers; Arthur Pace of Hotchkiss, CO, Otho Pace of Ringold, OK, Otto Pace of Idabel, OK, and Charles Pace of Las Vegas, NV.
A committal service will be held at the Veterans Cemetery on Tuesday, March 29th, 2011, at 3pm.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Grand Junction VA Medical Center, or to Hospice and Pallative Care of Western Colorado.
