Joe was born on November 24, 1944, in Mt. Harris, Colorado, to Mary Dominguez and Isidro Arroyo, the fourth of six children. He graduated from Steamboat Springs High School before attending Mesa College. He later served in the Army National Guard, demonstrating his commitment to both his country and community.
Joe began his career as a floor installer with LA Fick and Mort’s Tile and Marble in Steamboat Springs. He then dedicated 32 years to Peabody Coal Company while also running his own flooring business, a testament to his strong work ethic and determination.
In 1969, Joe married the love of his life, Goldie Gerber, in Craig, Colorado. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised two daughters, Andrea (Michael) and Allison (Trorie). He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, finding immense joy in watching his grandchildren—Peyton, Joee, Rowyn, and Lennox—excel in sports and life. Whether it was baseball, volleyball, track, or simply playing games, Joe was always their biggest supporter.
Faith and community were central to Joe’s life. He was an active member of his church and a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also deeply involved in the Boys & Girls Club of Craig, where he was honored as Man of the Year for his dedication to local youth. He found great joy in giving back, often organizing golf tournaments to support local charities in Craig. Joe also enjoyed golfing, fishing, and reconnecting with his lifelong friends from Steamboat Springs. His kindness, laughter, and unwavering love for his family and friends made him a beloved figure in every circle he touched.
Joe is survived by his wife, Goldie; his daughters, Andrea (Michael) and Allison (Trorie); his grandchildren, Peyton, Joee, Rowyn, and Lennox; his brothers, Isidro Jr. (Carolyn) and Mike (Janet); and his sister, Beatrice (Sam-deceased). He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Isidro Arroyo, and his brothers, Guadalupe and Alfonso Arroyo.
Joe’s legacy of love, dedication, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
