Joyce D. Babbel passed away on August 14, 2010 at the Retreat Communities after a sudden illness, she was 84.
Joyce was born on August 8, 1926 in Bristow, Oklahoma from the union of Jess McLain and Minnie Gertrude (Foresee) Speer. She spent her childhood in Oklahoma City, OK and graduated from Capital Hill High School. On June 13, 1945 Joyce married Ted W. Babbel, he preceded her in death in November 1995 in Grand Junction.
Joyce lived in the Grand Junction community for fifty-six years and previously lived in American Fork, UT. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was also a homemaker, wife and mother. She loved to read, go out to eat, go on short road trips and do things for others.
Joyce leaves behind four children: three sons; Gene (Audrey) Babbel, Dan (Kimberly Rae) Babbel and Richard (Kimberly Sue) Babbel and a daughter; Linda Collins, all of Grand Junction, Colorado, fifteen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, August 20, 2010 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2881 Orchard Avenue, Grand Junction.
A visitation will be held at the LDS Stake Center from 1-2:00 PM Friday prior to services. Burial will follow services at Grand Junction Memorial Garden Cemetery.
