

Kenneth Ray Montgomery went to be with the Lord on January 25, 2025 at the age of 85. He was born on January 12, 1940 to Reginald Ward “Monty” Montgomery and Margaret Lydia Williams Montgomery in Gallop, New Mexico. He graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1957, then proudly joined the US Navy in 1959.
He met and married Lois Meree Patterson Montgomery McGary in December 1959 in Bishop, Texas while stationed there. They divorced in 1991. They were blessed with two children, Bret Alan and Sandra Darlene while living in Moab, Utah. It was shortly after this he found his lifetime calling in gunsmithing. They moved to the Grand Valley in 1971. He became a world-renowned gunsmith building and fixing guns for people all around the world. He was known for building the best long-range high-impact hunting rifles. Ray took pride in being a dead eye shot, which played into his next love, hunting. He was an avid hunter and hunted all around the world.
He was a member of Fellowship Christian Church and loved singing in their choir for many years.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents and two younger brothers Thomas Dale Montgomery and Joel Glen Montgomery and his daughter Sandra Darlene Montgomery Talbot.
He is survived by his son, Bret Alan Montgomery and siblings include his older brother Reginald Lee Montgomery (Christine) of Kuna, ID and his sister Alice Elaine Montgomery Bailey (Ronald) of Lodi, CA. He is also survived by 4 Grandchildren, eight Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service will be held at 1pm on Friday, March 7, 2025, at Fellowship Church, 765 24 Rd, Grand Junction, CO followed by an Honors Ceremony at 3:00pm at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado, 2830 Riverside Parkway, Grand Junction, CO
