Kyle was born in Ubly, Michigan and grew up in Union Lake, Michigan. After graduating from Walled Lake High School, he joined the US Marine Corps. He lived in California, Utah, Idaho, and finally Fruita, Colorado.
Kyle was very proud of his service in the military. He served seven years in the US Marine Corps and thirteen years in the US Army and retired from the National Guard. He was stationed in the Philippines, Kuwait, and Afghanistan. He received numerous medals and awards commemorating his commitment to duty including the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal.
“Every post is honorable in which a man can serve his country." — George Washington.
Kyle was an unabashed “cat daddy,” and he loved his cats Skyler, Sinclair, and Thunder dearly.
He also loved to be out among people, and he would strike up a conversation with anyone. After just one meeting with Kyle, he would refer to someone as his friend. Although he lived in Fruita, Colorado for just over ten years, he was known wherever he went.
One of his favorite activities was a pitcher of beer and a night of karaoke with friends. What he lacked in vocal talent he made up for in enthusiasm and joy.
Kyle is preceded in death by his parents Lee R. Lamphere and R. Ann Lamphere and his wife Mary Kathryn Coonce. He is survived by his two sisters: Susan (David) Sechrist of Aurora, Colorado and Ann Marie Lamphere of Grand Junction, Colorado.
Those who knew Kyle often say he had a big heart. In memory of his generosity and kindness, his sisters ask his friends to pay it forward and extend kindness and grace to everyone they meet.
Services are to be held at the VA Memorial Cemetery on Friday September 27, 2024 at 3 pm.
