Leslie Saffell-Nisbet passed away unexpectedly, January 25, at home on the Grand Mesa. She grew up in Washington State and around the country with her military family. Her education included a Master’s in Communications. Possessing many talents, while modeling she acted in three Hollywood movies including, “An Officer and a Gentleman.” After marriage in 1983, she began a 23-year career teaching college in the Seattle, Washington area. Working part time on the radio and television was concurrent with her teaching. She also flew to many countries on airplane deliveries with her husband, a Boeing Company pilot.
Retiring in 2004, Leslie, husband, and daughter built a large house near Powderhorn. Authoring three books, gardening, and piano kept her busy. Everyone who knew Leslie realized she loved people and animals. Various species of mammals and birds understood immediately she cared. People often remarked that Leslie was one of a kind, always giving heart and soul to those in need. She will be missed by surviving husband, Ross; daughter, Nicole of Denver; and sister, Sandra of Yakima, Washington.
Memorial service planned January 17, 11:30a.m. at Molina Baptist Church.
