Lin went to Appleton Grade School and Fruita Jr/Sr High. She transferred to Central High her senior year and graduated from Central.
Lin chose Beauty School and became one of the best beauticians in Grand Junction. She even owned her own shop, The Sizzor Wizzard.
She married Dennis Tobin in 1981 and gained four Step-Children. They lived in Grand Junction until Dennis was transferred to Elko, NV, and later Dixon, CA. When Dennis retired, they moved back to Grand Junction.
Both Lin and Dennis worked diligently at the Moose Lodge, both spending many hours helping bring the Lodge back to life. The Lodge is going strong today due a lot to their dedication. Lin was a member of the Women of the Moose and rose to the rank of Deputy Grand Regent – a very prestigious position. She always made sure there were Easter, Halloween and Christmas parties for the kids. She loved doing crafts and very generously made beautiful Christmas Wreaths and donated them to the Moose Lodge for their annual Christmas Bazaar. Quite often she could be found helping in the kitchen and was very well known for her “Tom & Jerry’s” during the holidays.
Lin was confined to her house the last couple years but the wonderful people at Hope West Hospice enabled her to stay in her home. She was adamant that “she wasn’t going anywhere!!!” and her cousin Paula can attest to that! Paula lived close and was Lin’s first call when she needed help. Her son Jason came in weekly and got her groceries. She got to stay home!
Linda is survived by her Step-Children, Dennis Jr. (Dawn), Lorena (Tim), Travis (Debbie) and Jason (Cody), nine Grandchildren and two very special nieces, Pam and Michelle. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Mike McDowell and three special cousins, John (Shirley) Murray, Paula Baker and Roger (Kathy) Steele.
She was predeceased by her husband Dennis, her parents and her sister.
The family would like to thank Hope West for their wonderful care. Lin would want any donations to go to them or Roice Hurst as she loved her dog Rusty with all her heart.
A Celebration of Life luncheon will be held at the Moose Lodge on Saturday, September 27 from 2:00 – 4:00. You do not have to be a member to join us in this tribute to Linda.
