Marcie Kae Riddle was born February 12, 1987 in Grand Junction, CO and was called home March 30, 2021 at Presbyterian St. Luke’s Hospital in Denver, CO. She was surrounded by her loving family; parents, James and Nancy (Steffan) Riddle, and sister and brother-in-law, Krista (Riddle) and Chris Watson. Additional family members include her niece Addi Watson; grandma, Pat Steffan; dogs Nick and Finn; five aunts, six uncles and seventeen cousins. Loved ones welcoming her to heaven include her favorite dogs, Jack and Tucker; grandpa, Bruce Steffan; grandparents, Bob and Bonnie Riddle, two aunts and one uncle.
During her short time on earth, Marcie’s unrelenting determination took her down many paths. Beginning at a young age she was very active in sports and extremely competitive in everything she did. She enjoyed soccer, basketball, golf and her friends in high school. Cycling became a goal during college. She lived a life that was all her own. She traveled and chased dreams. After graduating from Fruita Monument High School in 2005, she spent four months volunteering at an orphanage in Nepal.
Marcie believed education was the key to success. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Business Administration from Mesa State College in 2010 and was awarded Outstanding Senior in Business Finance. She was six credits shy of receiving her MBA at Mesa State. Sadly due to her passing she was only three classes away from earning her Master’s Degree in Project Management through CSU Global. As a quiet, determined achiever, she would accept and only received A’s. She was a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society. Dedicated and passionate about what she believed in, Marcie spent her career in the industry she loved- coal. She held different positions from outside sales, to assistant controller, to her most recent position as Buyer II for Westmoreland Coal Company in Colstrip, Montana.
Throughout her journey, she endured challenges, triumphs and sorrows. Her path led her to self-awareness, the ability to accept, and to receive and give so much love. Marcie entered heaven with courage and faith. She was the strong one. Our hearts will forever feel the loss and emptiness of her absence. Shine down on us, our baby girl.
