Marie Elaine Duarte Otero

Marie Elaine Otero passed away February 11, 2011, in Grand Junction, Colorado. Marie was born on July 9, 1970, in Leadville, Colorado to Ernest and Rose Duarte. Marie’s parents later moved to Grand Junction where she remained for the rest of her life. Marie attended Central High School, where she met the love of her life Robert B. Otero; they were married May 10, 1996, in Las Vegas, Nevada and shared 24 years together. Marie was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with and spoiling her grandchildren. She loved being outdoors; one of her favorite past times was jeeping on the Grand Mesa, with her family. A good day for Marie was seeing how muddy she could get her jeep. Marie worked most of her life at Colorado West hydraulics as a bookkeeper, where she excelled. She took great pride in any project or work assigned to her. Marie leaves a legacy of family who will not forget her abundance of love, compassion and devotion to them and all she met. Marie leaves behind her husband Robert B. Otero, son Robert E. Otero, daughter Martika M. Otero, step-son Jesse D. Poole Otero, her mother Rose Duarte, brother Martin (Angela) Duarte, and grandchildren Amallya Otero and Javon Martinez, as well as numerous other extended family, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her father Ernest Duarte and brother Samuel D. Duarte.
