Marjorie Cox
May 18, 1926 - June 15, 2015
Marjorie Grace Cox passed away peacefully at HopeWest on June 15th, 2015. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was a devout sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend who always provided a smile, and look with those blue eyes that would grab anyone's attention. Marjorie dedicated her life to the God that she knew; that love was manifested towards her family and friends with great care and provisions through many acts of kindness. Her Sunday dinners were like being at a banquet, roast beef, mashed potatoes, green beans, salad, jello, and of course, a dessert. The table would be set with all of the elegance fit for ""royalty"" and the family, along with friends, would feel the warmth of her love. She gave of her time, money and resources to churches she attended; that was one of her greatest joys that brought her enormous pleasure. She was always available to help by being a ""barber"" or a ""hairstylist"" depending on gender but would give undivided attention to both the individual and the job at hand.
She was a seamstress, made many wedding dresses, for the bride and also the bridesmaids, she water-skied and could slalom gracefully, she loved to perform dives at the swimming pool and was an incredible baker, the list could go on with her many gifts. She loved to study the Bible, give Bible studies both in her home and in the church, she also loved to pray, and she sang in a trio at church and learned to play the ukulele.
Her home was her sanctuary, always well attended and spotless, clean; everything was in order. Her children would comment that if they had to use the bathroom during the night when they came back their bed was made. There were many lessons individuals could learn from this lady about how to live life well, she exemplified many qualities.
She is survived by her children, Vonnie Folkers, and Dan Cox, grandchildren, Lincoln (Leslie) Folkers, Wendy (Jim) Finlaw, Eric (Ericia) Folkers, Jon (Danielle) Cox; eight great-grandchildren; four siblings, Ruth Boggs, Blanche Mancuso, Smokey Lyon (twin) and Helen George.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Grace Lyon; brothers, Bob and Wayne Lyon; sister, Midge Lyon; son, Kenneth George Cox, and husband, Kenneth Ray Cox.
A memorial service will be held at Canyon View Vineyard Chapel, Tuesday, June 23, 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers contribution can be made to HopeWest Hospice.
