Michael Leroy Herron, age 77 passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026 surrounded by his family at Hope West, Ferris Care Center in Grand Junction, Co. Michael lived a life full of adventure and laughter, touching the hearts of many who knew him. Born in Tucson, Arizona on April 21,1948 to Evelyn and Kenneth Herron, he is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Donna, his sons, Christopher and Matthew, (Sandra) and grandson, Alex, brother, Ken (Treva) sisters; Diane Hilliard (Keith) Barbara Palmer, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Sheralyne Anne and brother, Steven.
He graduated from Rincon High School and received an Associates Degree from El Paso Community College in Electronic Engineering and spent over forty years working in the computer field. He was an Army veteran, serving his country in North Korea.
Mike was happiest being with family, traveling, camping, hiking, just being in the mountains of Colorado, Utah and Arizona. He enjoyed many trips throughout the country as he loved the outdoors, especially his time as Scouting Coordinator with his sons. He enjoyed model building, stamp collecting, video games and genealogy. At heart, Mike was a tinkerer who would rather fix something than replace it. We will always remember his mushroom cookies and many of his inedible recipes.
The family is taking time to grieve, a memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
