Nancy Lee Ellyson

Nancy L. (Harris) Ellyson, of Palisade, died on November 23, 2023 at age 84, after an extended illness. She graduated from high school in Homer, NE in 1957, and graduated from Colorado Christian University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management.

Nancy married her childhood sweetheart, Wally Ellyson in 1959. They lived in Nebraska and Wyoming before settling in Grand Junction in 1987. Nancy had a long career in human resources. She served on the board of the West Colorado Land Trust, and is past president of the Palisade chapter of Colorado PEO. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church.

She began playing the piano at the age of 4. Besides her family, her greatest joy was playing hymns. She served the Lord and the congregation as accompanist for Covenant Presbyterian Church for over 25 years.

Nancy is preceded in death by her husband, Wally. She is survived by three children, Cheryl (Steve) Calabro of Papillion, NE, Lori McKee of Clifton, CO, and David (Jenifer) Ellyson of Palisade, CO. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson, brother Duane Harris, and many other family and friends.

Visitation will be held at Callahan Edfast Mortuary on Thursday, November 30, 2023 from 1-3 p.m. with funeral service at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be in Homer, NE at a later date. In lieu of flowers, family requests that memorials be sent to the Alzheimer's Association or Hope West Hospice.
