Norman Bishop, native Grand Junction resident, passed away January 18, 2022 at the Vineyard Assisted Living Center in Grand Junction, he was 91 years old.
Norman was born on September 29, 1930 in Clifton, Colorado from the union of Orville and Bessie Bishop.
He spent his childhood in the Clifton, Colorado area until he was 18 when he joined the United States Navy to become an Aircraft structural mechanic.
Norman was a Warehouse Man, who worked for C.D. Smith and Company. Norman was an active member of the community, serving as the Assistant Director of the Mesa County Sheriff's Department work release program until his retirement at the age of 66.
Norman was an active member of the Good Sam's RV Club. A lover of the outdoors, he spent his time camping, fishing, hunting and gardening. Norman cared for his family very much, and loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and close friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-three years, Olive Bartholomew, whom he married on June 20, 1958 in Grand Junction CO. He is also survived by his son, Jeffrey (Laura) Bishop of Grand Junction, two daughters, Pamela Bishop of Grand Junction and Shauna (Duane) Knapp of Eckert, Colorado. Other survivors include four grandchildren, Trenton (Ginger) Wilson, Phillip (Jill) Wilson, Kyle (Jessica) Bishop and Kirsten (Carol) Bishop, seven great-grandchildren, Kian, Chloe, Jameson, Kaylee, Kinsley, Allison and Tena.
Norman was the youngest of 9 children and is preceded in death by his 8 siblings, three sisters and five brothers.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 from 1-2:00 PM at Martin Mortuary with funeral services at 2:00 pm with burial to follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
