Norman Jess "Bunt" Wood

Norm was born on August 5, 1931 in Ouray, Colorado from the union of Jess and Anna Wood. He spent his childhood in Ouray and graduated from the Ouray High School later moving to Montrose, CO where he resided for fifty-two years.

Norm was a United States Air Force veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He worked for the Western Area Power Association for twenty –five years as an electrician.

He married Lillie Celina Montano on May 7, 1955 in Ouray, CO. Norm became Lillie’s caregiver in early 2014, selflessly taking care of her. Not a man of many words, Norm showed by example his deep love for Lillie. His actions during this time of care gave heartfelt inspiration to his children and grandchildren. Lillie preceded Norm in death on March 27, 2017.

Norm was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Montrose, The Elks, NRA and the IBEW. He enjoyed wine making, firearms, reloading ammunition, photography and spending time taking care of his home, detailing his yard and cars.

Survivors include daughters Cindi and (Randy) Stringer of Grand Junction, Sheila and (Don) Pierce of Elizabeth, CO.; a sister; Doris Clark of Grand Junction, CO.; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Wood.

A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 25, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with a committal service and military honors at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado at 1:00 PM.
