Ray was born on December 6, 1935 in Gering, Nebraska.
His parents were William (Willie) & Eudora (Mary) Castle. He had an older half-brother, Gerald Castle.
Ray’s family moved to Palisade, CO. He graduated on May 12, 1950. He was also baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses there in Palisade. His family helped a new family to the area “The Goads”. They gave them a place to stay & food, until they got on their feet. It was in that new family that Ray meet his future wife Juanita (Dolly) Castle.
Ray & Juanita (Dolly) married on September 27, 1958. They had three sons and three daughters. They also had Fourteen grandchildren and twenty-eight great grandchildren.
Ray was a genuinely kind man. He was very dependable, a great teacher of work ethics, and very hard worker himself. More importantly he was a wonderful husband of 60 yrs., a father that loved unconditionally, and a grandpa that never let his grandkids go without.
Ray was employed by Valley Disposal and hauled newspapers for many years. He also worked in Nevada, California, and Colorado. He drove truck for many years too. He finally settled in Palisade, CO. He loved to go for long drives, country music, telling stories of the ole days, and his family.
Ray was able to live his last years, even to the last day, in the comfort of his home with the help & hard work of his loving children. He was greatly encouraged by his friends, family, and acquaintances of similar faith.
Words cannot express enough of the greatness about this wonderful man. He always had a kind smile and solid handshake with a hug. He loved to wrestle his boys and always won…he was the shoulder and helping hands to his daughters and a grandpa that gave unconditionally.
Ray served his heavenly father Jehovah God and had the hope of an earthly resurrection in Paradise. As Malachi 3:16 “…and Jehovah kept paying attention and listening. And a book of remembrance was written before him for those fearing Jehovah and for those meditating on his name”. He spoke of and encouraged all his family and any acquaintances of this hope of being in Jehovah’s Memory.
A Service talk of remembrance was given on Saturday December 19th, 2020 via zoom
None of us will ever forget the love in Daddy’s Hands and “Grandpa” telling us ‘bout the good old days!
