Reed Homer Miller passed away quietly in his sleep at his home, Grandview Care Lodge in Grand Junction, CO. Reed was the son of Mary Jane and Reed Charles Miller. He was a native of Grand Junction, born at St Mary’s Hospital and graduated from Grand Junction High School.
In 1965 Reed started his own business, The Record Room specializing in classical music, Jazz and hard to find items. His customers appreciated his personal attention and vast knowledge of the music he offered in his store. After almost 30 years in business, Reed retired to spend time enjoying “the good life”; good friends, great music, wonderful food and a glass of fine wine.
As a music lover Reed made a yearly trip to attend the Santa Fe Opera. He went to all the Grand Junction Symphony concerts and enjoyed the dinner theatres both here and in Dallas, TX where his sister lived for several years.
Reed was a member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church all his life, singing in the children’s choir then the adult choir until recent years when he was no longer physically able.
He is survived by his sister, Pamela S. Miller Brown of Grand Junction; cousins, Tony Winters (Helen) of New York City, NY, Joan Goetz (Skip), Kim Lukens and Dan Cullen, all of Riverside, CA. There are several other cousins scattered throughout the United States.
His sister, Pam, would like to thank Dr. Joshua Campbell who enabled Reed to enjoy his senior years. Much love, thanks and deep appreciation to Grandview Care Lodge owners Paul and Korene Ewing, staff and his extended family, the residents, over the past four years.
I raise my wine glass one last time to you little brother; may you use your beautiful voice to sing with the angels and be at peace.
Instead of flowers, please make donations to St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 3888 27 ½ Road, Grand Junction, CO 81506 or a charity of your choice.
Services for Reed will be at 10:00 am Friday, August 25 at Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 3888 27 ½ Road, Grand Junction, CO 81506.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.MartinMortuary.com for the Miller family.
