Wow I can’t believe 3 years since we lost you. We think about you often and remember this day that you took us out for breakfast. You refused to let me pay! Then we went on a tour around East Orchard Mesa and you told us stories of when you were growing up. It was such a nice morning and a great memory for us. Thank you for looking over us.

I remember what a nice breakfast we had in Palisade that day! It was so much fun driving around East Orchard Mesa, you showing us where you and Randy grew up. Skating down the frozen canals to school- what a story! Every time I make chili I think of your chili dinners. Mine never comes out as good as yours. Can’t believe it’s been 2 years.

I moved here from North Carolina in 2018 so I only knew "Colonel" for a very short time. I meet him at the Wagon Wheel and he was loved by the staff and patrons there. He was always kind to my husband and I. He will be missed by many. My condolences to his family at this difficult time.

My dad was a quiet and strong presence, a provider for his family, and always encouraged me to follow my dreams.  He was a good listener and loved animals. He formed a 501(c)(3) charity to care for orphaned raccoons and bunnies. Rosemary was our first raccoon and her offspring still visit our ranch occasionally. 
Some family members have compared him to Clint Eastwood and I agree. I saw much of his personality type exemplified  in the movie Gran Torino “Ever notice how you come across somebody once in a while you shouldn’t have messed with? That’s me.”  He loved westerns and lived up to the guy in the white hat in real life. I love you, dad, and will meet you in greener pastures one day.

I was fortunate to get to have Kent Mangnall as a member of my extended family. I loved him because my dear sister-I’m-law, Christy Marie Mangnall Williams, adored and loved her dad! That was reason enough for me! They’ve made movies about men just like Kent. He was the right stuff! He served his country honorably and was a United Captain during the pinnacle of commercial air travel. No wonder he is Christy’s hero!

Kent, you are cleared direct to blue skies!

Kent was my father in law and I was fortunate to have him in my life for 25 years. Kent was a man who used words in thrift, but when we had our conversations about the ranch, United or his time in Vietnam those were valuable moments in my life. One of my first dates with Christy I was grilling some steaks on Kent’s grill. Somehow I managed to blow the glass front out of it lighting up the BBQ. What a messy way to meet your future father in law. The United Captain took it all in stride never mentioned it to me. When I had the chance to move overseas and fly as an international corporate pilot, I eagerly told Kent about the opportunity. He was very quiet and didn’t say much at all. Later that day, we were at the Glenwood Springs pool and he simply said “I think you should do it, I think it will be good”. It meant so much to me that he had been thinking it over. He carefully considered the prospects and hours later issued his verdict. When he retired from United we got to spend much more time with him. The ranch in Mesa was his true love where he enjoyed the land and the animals. Kent you will be missed and I appreciate beyond words the time we were able to spend together. God speed and smooth flight westbound aviator.
