

Robert A. Hibl, 94, of Grand Junction, CO, passed away on January 16, 2017, at St. Mary's Hospital with his family at his side. Robert was born on April 27, 1922, in New Hradec, North Dakota. He married Agnes Freer in Yakima, WA on September 20, 1948. She preceded him in death in July of 1997. He is survived by his three children: Audrey (Chuck Krantwashl) Montgomery,
Douglas (Olga) Hibl, and Bonnie (Marc) Whitman. He had six grandchildren: Robert and Raymond Hibl, Krista Montgomery Wood, Ashli Montgomery Rulien,Travis and Hope Whitman. He also had seven great-grandchildren. Robert proudly served in the United States Navy in the South Pacific campaign during World War II. After the war, he attended college to become a mechanical engineer and worked for Kaiser Engineers until his retirement at age 67. During his career as an engineer he traveled throughout the world, both for business and for pleasure. His special interests included dancing, woodworking, and being a devoted father and grandfather. A ""Celebration of His Life"" will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grand Junction, CO, at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 10, 2017. There will be a Rosary preceding the service at 1 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association at1-800-342-2383 and to the Arthritis Foundation of Colorado at 303-756-8622.
