Bobby was a classmate and friend going all the way back to St Mary's School in Leadville. He was always a real character and you never knew what you were going to get. He was full of surprises. As kids, we both had paper routes for the Leadville Herald Democrat. I remember him being a crack shot with a 22 rifle and we would oftentimes sneak our rifles out and go up to Finntown east of town where we would give the many colonies of Gophers hell. Bobby and I would often go rabbit hunting too, so that we could bring fresh meat to an old fellow named Bruce who lived in a rundown two bedroom  shack way up on East 5th Street. During the winter months, that was probably the only thing that Bruce survived on. This was just one of the many ways I remember Bobby's empathy and compassion. May his memory be eternal.
