Bob graduated from high school and immediately went into the U.S. Navy to serve during WWII. As a young man he worked on the Nickel Plate Railroad, and later was a mechanic for the Lima Cadillac, Lima Cement Products, and the Boulder Valley School District in Boulder, Colorado.
He loved fishing, camping, hiking, skiing (water, snow, and cross-country), model railroading, and his dogs (of which there were many during his lifetime).
He is survived by his bride of 68 years, Kathleen; three children: Cynthia (David) Farler, Christine (Donald) Dunlap, and Paul (Donna) Voss; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Buddy. He also leaves behind his sister, Ruth Vermillion, of Lima, Ohio.
A Memorial Service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Grand Junction on November 19 at 10 am, followed by military honors on November 20 at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery at 10 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church (FUMC) of Grand Junction, 522 White Street, Grand Junction, CO, for the Bob Voss Memorial Fund; or to HopeWest Hospice Care Center, 3090 N. 12th Street, Unit B, Grand Junction, CO 81506, in memory of Bob Voss.
He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who went through life working quietly behind the scenes not for his glory, but for God’s glory.
