Rusty Calhoun, 54, of Naturita passed away Wednesday November 3, at Intermountain Health Care in Murray, Utah with his wife and daughter by his side.
Rusty was born August 8, 1967, in Idaho Falls, Idaho to William and Joyce Calhoun. Rusty loved his family and friends very much he would do anything for them. Rusty was willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed it and always had a smile on his face. He loved to pester people and had an infectious laugh.
Rusty was an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Monticello High School in 1985 and later became a volunteer on the Nucla/Naturita Fire Department for many years.
Rusty married the love of his life Bobbie, on December 21, 1996. He was proud to help raise his three stepchildren: Kailey, Melissa and Ty and always treated them as his own. He was beyond proud of his kids and even more proud of his grandbabies, Bryson, Harper, Mackenzie, Maesyn, and Brayden. He loved the time he spent with them, they were his pride and joy.
Rusty co-owned a Good Year tire store before selling and getting into the oil field for the last 30 years. Rusty worked for Tom Brown, Encana and Kinder Morgan. He loved his work and he took pride in whatever he did.
Being an avid hunter and spending time outdoors with his family and friends was one of his favorite things to do. He spent the last two summers working on a cabin at his property on Kelso Creek, it was a lifelong dream, that will be fulfilled by his family and friends. The cabin will be a cherished location to remember Rusty and celebrate his life.
Rusty is preceded in death by his parents William and Joyce Calhoun.
Survived by his wife Bobbie, daughters Kailey Spangler, Melissa (Cole) Zunich, Son, Ty (Destinee) Spangler, Grandbabies Bryson, Harper and Maesyn Zunich, Mackenzie Smith and Brayden Spangler.
Brother Calvin Calhoun, Sisters: Shelly (Leroy) Archer, Tonya (Joe) Gabardi, Lori (David) Worix and many nieces and nephews.
Rusty will be remembered for his love of his family and community.
Funeral Services will be held November 15, 2021 at 11:00am at the New Hope Pentecostal Church in Naturita, Co., followed by an interment at the Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Nucla, Co. We will have a Pot Luck at the Nucla Community Center following the services if you would like to bring something. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nucla/Naturita EMS, who did their very best for Rusty in his final days. He was very proud to be a part of this community and will be greatly missed by all.
