Tom Duke was born in Texarkana, Arkansas but always considered himself a Texan, as was his Father. He spent most of the years of his life in the Grand Valley, the place he called home. The last 2 years of his life he spent time with family in Michigan and with his daughter, son-in-law, and two loving grand daughters, in the beautiful Pacific NW. He returned to Grand Junction where he spent his last days with his wife and their son. He was an Army Veteran who served his country, proudly, on two consecutive tours in Vietnam. He loved to travel and explore the country and showed his family many beautiful places like New Mexico, Yellowstone & the Grand Tetons; however, his favorite place of all was the Cimarron, just south of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, in Colorado, where he enjoyed hunting and camping. He loved John Wayne movies, the Dallas Cowboys & enjoyed reading the works of the author’s Louis L'amour to Rudyard Kipling. Tom was also a lover of music with the classics of Motown being his favorite. Tom was a loyal friend to many and was loved and adored by his family and close friends. He was passionate about his beliefs and the things he enjoyed and loved. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him best.
Tom is survived by his wife Linda Duke and their son Steven Duke, of Grand Junction, CO; His daughter Elizabeth Weiss, her husband Jesse Weiss and their 2 daughters, his granddaughters, Madeleine Dezern and Jacqueline Weiss, of Vancouver, WA & His sister Linda Furrh and her son Nathan Furrh and his family of Rock Hill, South Carolina.
