It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Vada Estey Stryker, a beloved mother, stepmother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Vada passed away peacefully on April 20, 2025. She was 87 years old.
Born in Latrobe, California, to Gordon and Luvina Estey, Vada spent her early years in California before embarking on a life full of adventure and love. In 1979, she married Bob Stryker, and together they spent their retirement years traveling the United States in an RV, enjoying 22 years of exploration and unforgettable memories.
Vada’s career at IBM spanned over 20 years, where she made lasting connections and was known for her dedication. Above all, her greatest joy came from her family—her children, Karey and Toby Brown, her stepchildren, Pam and Mel, and her five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Known for her stubborn yet humorous nature, Vada embraced life with an adventurous spirit. At the age of 70, she fulfilled a long-time wish by getting a tattoo with her granddaughter, a testament to her zest for life and willingness to embrace new experiences. She was also famous for her desserts, which became a staple at every family gathering. Whether it was baking up a storm, crafting for her grandchildren, or enjoying an evening cocktail with friends and family, Vada always made sure there was room for fun and laughter.
Vada leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, humor, and unforgettable memories. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
