August 24, 1930 – December 10, 2016
Vivian Pauline Beverly was born in Julesburg to William M. Likely and Zadie E. (Needham) Likely. The family moved to their ranch in New Castle in the late 1940’s where Vivian graduated from high school. After completing various business courses, she met the love of her life, Robert Beverly, at the Oil Shale Plant at Anvil Points. They were married at the First Methodist Church in Rifle in 1949 and spent 67 wonderful years together. They were blessed with a daughter, Becky, in Glenwood Springs in 1953. After moving to Grand Junction in 1954, dear son, Kent, joined the family in 1955.
Vivian was a Girl and Boy Scout leader, Sunday School teacher and youth group leader. She volunteered with many organizations including WAAIME’s, Western Colorado Botanical Gardens, The Art Center, Mesa Country Community Concerts, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Vivian and Bob climbed many Colorado mountains, including 14er’s, and taught skiing and ski patrolled at Mesa Creek Ski Area and Powderhorn. They traveled the world together, 6 of the 7 continents, but Vivian’s heart was always at home with her family and friends. She loved her flower garden, sewing, birdwatching, and cooking; sharing her cookies and banana bread with many people. Most importantly, she loved her family and cherished her grandchildren and great grandsons.
Vivian passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital of natural causes. Cremation has taken place.
Vivian is survived by her husband, Robert Beverly, daughter, Becky Beverly, son, Kent Beverly, all of Grand Junction, granddaughter, Lauren Sell, of Denver, and grandson, Stephen Sell, with great grandsons, Kane and Drake, of Ogden, Utah, and four special nieces.
Services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 17, at the First United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Latimer House.
