

William Thomas Sisson 86, of Grand Junction, Colorado passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, at St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by family. A celebration of life service will take place at the Grand Junction First Presbyterian Church on Saturday February 28,2026 at 11 am
Bill was born on January 19th, 1940, to Max and Dorothy Sisson in Grand Junction CO with his sister Vicki Lee (Sisson) Green, born 9 years later. He graduated from Palisade High School in 1958. Bill attended several colleges including Mesa Junior College (now Colorado Mesa University); Colorado State University and he finished with a BS/BA from the University of Denver in 1963. Bill served in the United States Army National Guard Unit from 1961-62.
In 1963 Bill began his banking career in California returning to Colorado in 1966 where he worked for Colorado National Bank until 1991. Bill returned to Palisade Co in 1988 to help run the peach orchards after his father Max passed away. Bill was the president/ CEO for Mesa National Bank/ANB Bank until his retirement in 2009 and was also on the Board of Directors for Sturm Financial Group. Bill was active in the community where he served on many boards in Glenwood Springs prior to moving to Grand Junction. He served on the Mesa State College Foundation Board, Club 20, Grand Junction City Council, Grand Junction Downtown Rotary Board, Colorado Bankers Association and the Colorado Economic Development and International Trade Committee (under 3 different governors). Bill prided himself on his career and knowledge as a banker as well as his involvement in his community and mentored many people in finance and banking.
Bill married Celeste Brown Frank in 1961, and they had three children together. Michelle Sisson (deceased), Todd Sisson and Mindy (Sisson) Spires. He later married Jeanne (Romnes) Sisson in 1982 and combined two more children by marriage, Julie (Benzel) Lind & Brett Benzel. Bill & Jeanne were married for 44 years.
Bill enjoyed hiking, biking, fishing and travelling in his RV. He and his wife, Jeanne especially loved Lake Powell and spending time there every summer with friends and family. Bill also enjoyed supporting college athletic teams (CSU, DU and CMU) and was a fan of football and many other sports. Most recently he enjoyed attending Colorado Mesa University women’s basketball games to cheer on his granddaughter. Bill was a lifelong Christian and attended the Methodist and Presbyterian Church.
Bill leaves behind his loving wife, Jeanne Sisson; sons Todd Sisson and Brett Benzel; daughters; Mindy Spires (Tony) and Julie Lind (Alan); 7 grandchildren; Jaeda Cannizzaro (Jeff), Alex, Emma, Deanna, Danni, Brandon, Jessie and Joslyn; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Sienna, Liela and Cam.
