Our beloved “Ammachi,” Aleyamma George, who is dearly known as “Aleyamma Sir” among her beloved students, was born in Kerala, India on August 29, 1931. She was born fourth of eleven children, to Kaleekal Mathai and Mariamma Mathai. She married the late George P. Charuvilla on February 26, 1953 and was blessed with five children, three sons and two daughters. In India, Ammachi worked as an elementary school teacher, until her retirement in 1987. She moved to the United States in December 1988, where she lived with her children until she was promoted to glory.
After immigrating to the United States, she remained in fellowship with IPC Ebenezer Full Gospel Assembly, where she supported the Lord’s work to the full extent of her abilities. She had unwavering faith and was a source of strength and comfort to others. She touched the lives of many through her willingness to serve. Her foundation was deeply embedded in the word of God, which strengthened her as well as others around her. Ammachi was a living testimony to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her only desire was for them to follow the Lord wholeheartedly. As a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and teacher, Ammachi’s strong faith in God was always evident.
She is survived by her children: Alice, Geoson and his wife Susamma, Jacob and his wife Anila, Noble and his wife Jaimole, and Asha and her husband George. She has eleven grandchildren: Gene and his wife Nina, Gensa and her husband George, Tania and her husband Ronni, Eliza, Stephy, Kezia, Terry, Joshua, Tony, Keren, and Rebekah; and three great grandchildren, Leah, Lindsey, and Levi.
Ammachi lived a long and full life. Despite hardships and struggles, she accomplished many things. She has fought the good fight and now has faithfully finished her race. As we read in 1 Corinthians 2:9, “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
We have a great hope that we will see her again, face to face, in heaven. She will be greatly missed but will forever be in heaven. She will be greatly missed but will forever be in our hearts.
