

Annie Mae Long, age 89 passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at an Arlington hospital. Annie was born May 9, 1935 in Jacksboro, Texas to Finnis Wigington and Leona Shields Wigington. Annie graduated Jacksboro High School. In 1960 she married Billy Wayne Long and they were married 19 years. She had been a resident of Grand Prairie for 58 years.
Annie began working in the textile industry. She later started a career with AT&T, in technical support. Her time with AT&T continued for 36 years. During her time with AT&T, she received several Perfect Attendance Awards, including one for 20 years!
Annie always attended church faithfully. She had several arts and crafts hobbies over the years, including painting, ceramics and bead work. She also crocheted 115 "beanie caps" for cancer patients. She loved her walking and talking at the Summit Senior Recreation Center in Grand Prairie. She was an active lady and very independent. Annie never complained and was very independent in all her affairs. She had never been hospitalized until March of this year, when the Lord chose it was time to bring her home to Heaven.
Annie is preceded in death by her parents, Finnis and Leona Wigington; sister, Mary Brisco and brother, Joe Wigington. She is survived by her son, Kevin Long, of Grand Prairie; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
There will be a Visitation for Annie from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at Grand Prairie Funeral Home, 733 Dalworth Street, Grand Prairie, Texas 75050. Funeral Service will take place Thursday, July 1, 2024 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at 2:00 pm at Grand Prairie Memorial Gardens, 3001 S. Belt Line Road, Grand Prairie, Texas 75052.
