

Billy grew up on a farm, and was one of nine children. When he graduated from high school, he and a friend walked to Fort Worth and enlisted in the US Coast Guard. Billy served in World War II Sea Service on several vessels in various stations, including Coast Guard Turbine Ships in Curtis Bay, Maryland and Alameda, California, the USS Sheliak KA 62 and a CG Radio Ship in Norfolk, Virginia. He studied engineering and advanced to Water Tender 3rd Class. Upon his completion of service and separation, he was a Fireman 1st Class of the USCG. He also worked for the Grand Prairie Police Department as the superintendent of crossing guards for 25 years.
Billy married Virginia Delores (Hienike) Warren and they started a family and had three children Deborah, John and Paul. Billy loved fishing, bowling and dominoes, and later in life, he became a Mason and a member of a barber shop quartet group. He loved to play Bingo at the Summit in Grand Prairie. Billy was sweet, corny and very loving.
Billy is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Virginia; his second wife, Pearline Little Warren and step-son, Cameron Warren.
Billy is survived by his children: Deborah Warren Johnson, John Michael Warren, Paul David Warren, step-children: Jody Little Warren and Jerry Warren; grandchildren, Michele Lowen (Drew) and Deanna Warren; great grandchildren, Matthew Gassett (Jonna), Joseph Cameron "JC" Minton (Hailey), Madison Groh and Andrew Groh; Great-great grandchildren, Tess Gassett, Lottie Gassett, and Noah Minton (expected next month); and one daughter-in-law, Pat.
A visitation for Billy will be held Monday, November 1, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Grand Prairie Funeral Home, 733 Dalworth Street, Grand Prairie, TX 75050. Burial will take place Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at 11:30 AM at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211.
