Doris Pauline (Whitecotton) Russell, 89, of Grand Prairie, TX passed peacefully on July 9, 2025. Doris was born in Simms, TX on February 7, 1936, to the late Howard Paul and Bernice Whitecotton.
She graduated from Bowie High School in 1953.
Doris was a devoted wife to her husband of 63 years, Jack and a loving mother to three children. She was also a proud grandma to two grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
After raising three kids Doris went to work for Saladmaster, Inc. where she worked for 18 years until retiring in 1998. She loved spending time with family and friends, playing bingo, dominoes, cards and Yahtzee.
Doris is survived by children Jeanne McKinney, Jeanette Wheelis, and David Russell (Cynthia), grandchildren Erin Prince (Daniel), and Benjamin Russell, great grandchildren Conall Prince, Calla Prince, and Coral Prince. She is also survived by sisters Myra Reeves (Jimmy), Joyce May (Gerold), Rebe Diana Rose, brother Donny Whitecotton (Jeanne), sister-in-law Donna Russell, and many nieces and nephews. Doris was preceded in death by parents Howard Paul and Bernice Whitecotton, sisters Dorothy Moore and Peggy Housewright, and brother Howard Paul (Sonny) Whitecotton Jr.
A visitation will be held at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home, 2951 S. Beltline Road, Grand Prairie, TX 75052, on July 28, 2025, 12:00-2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Dallas – Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211.
Doris was a member of Inglewood Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Bereavement Fund at Inglewood Baptist Church (1901 S. Carrier Pkwy., Grand Prairie, TX 75051) are appreciated.
