Floy Hubert Johnson, age 86, of Grand Prairie, Texas passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 24, 2022. Floy was born November 12, 1935 in Cisco, Texas to James Hugh Johnson and Mildred Moselle (Brown) Johnson.
Floy "F.H." Johnson was a 1958 graduate of Tarleton State College. He then continued his education at Sam Houston State College, graduating in 1962 and attended East Texas State University where in 1967 he obtained a master's degree in Education. Floy wanted to help develop and create interest in the minds of the students he taught. Over a 20 year span, he made an impact on many young lives as a Biology Teacher in the Desoto ISD from 1962-1965 and in the Dallas ISD from 1966-1983.
Floy was a natural born teacher, always trying to teach someone something to better them in life. He was a very high energy and positive person. Floy was a successful real estate investor and business man who also started an import business where he leased the very first indoor space at Traders Village located in Grand Prairie, Texas. Over the years, he built his real estate business into a very successful operation.
A member of the Clairette Masonic Lodge and the Woods Methodist Church, Floy believed in going to church every Sunday and being active in his churches. He enjoyed working, traveling and fishing, but his greatest love was spending time with his family.
Floy was preceded in death by his parents, James & Mildred Johnson and his two younger brothers Jerry and James Johnson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Shirley Ann (Hastings) Johnson; his three sons, Jim Johnson and wife Carol and their children Jake and Sadie Johnson; Tim Johnson and wife Stacy and their children Maverick, Weston, and Lucas Johnson; Scott Johnson and former wife Cindy Johnson and their children Haley and Ty Johnson and his fiancé Jeannine and one great grandson Aiden Johnson; other family and a host of friends, all who will miss him deeply.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Bean Massey Burge Funeral Home, 2951 S. Belt Line Road, Grand Prairie, Texas 75052. Funeral services will be at 9:00 am Thursday, October 6, 2022 also at Bean Massey Burge Funeral Home. Interment services will follow at 2:00 pm at the St. Olaf Cemetery, also known as the Old Rock Church Cemetery located in Cranfills Gap, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Olaf Rock Church, P.O. Box 148, Cranfills Gap, Texas 76637.
