

Gladys Ellen Hicks, who just celebrated her 90th birthday, went to be with her Lord May 23, 2013. She was born May 5, 1923 in Casper Wyoming to George and Sallie Postert. She left Casper at 2 when her father who worked for Texaco. transferred back to Texas. They lived in Parks, TX where she attended school at Parks. Gladys then attended Breckenridge High School where she graduated in May 1940. September 1940 she entered Tarleton College in Stephenville, TX where she met her future husband, Stanley. From 1941-1942 she attended Texas Tech College. She worked for Gov’t engineering in Abilene, TX, Camp Barkley in Fall of 1942. Gladys lived with Volva Doss until she was transferred to Dallas to work in San Antonio Kelly Field. In December 26, 1944 she and Dr. Stanley G. Hicks were married and had 3 beautiful children. Gladys worked at LTV Corp. for 27 years as a travel coordinator and cashier for employees. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Grand Prairie for 63 years, Joy Sunday School class, Rejebian Book Club, and the Chairman of the Spiritual Heritage Group for the Women’s Club of Grand Prairie. She taught 5 year olds and started a special ed Sunday school. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Dr. Stanley G. Hicks and brother Stanley Postert. Gladys is survived by her children K.D. Hicks and wife Connie, Kay Almquist, Joan Hicks-Gonzalez and husband Ron; grandchildren, Justin Almquist, Captain Jon Hicks and wife Amy, Captain Kevin Hicks and wife Ashley, Anna Almquist Stredwick and husband Allen; great grandchildren, Brianna Hicks and Elaina Hicks.
