She was born June 9, 1937, in Fairy, Texas, in Hamilton County to Johnny and Valeria Jackson.
Gwen moved to Grand Prairie, following her older siblings, in the mid-1950s to take a job at Chance Vought Aircraft Inc.
She married Grand Prairie-native Ernest Lee Seymour on Sept. 12, 1959.
Gwen was in the PTA, the Grand Prairie Garden Club and the Grand Prairie Woman's Club.
She enjoyed gardening, bird watching and cooking sweet treats.
Gwen later worked as the secretary at Burbank Gardens Church of Christ in northeast Grand Prairie.
She was part owner in All Quality Sign & Manufacturing Co.
Gwen was a longtime member of Freetown Road Church of Christ in Grand Prairie.
She is preceded in death by husband, Ernest; brother, Vernon; and parents, Johnnie and Valeria Jackson.
She is survived by her two sons, Tommy and Barry Seymour of Grand Prairie, sisters Mary Hickerson and Louise Vance of Grand Prairie, and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Gwen is 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home, 2951 S. Belt Line Road, in Grand Prairie. Funeral service is at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, May 9, at Freetown Road Church of Christ, 1038 Freetown Road, in Grand Prairie. Burial will be at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
