

Houston Fillmore Holland passed away peacefully on the evening of Tuesday, April 15, 2014. Houston F. Holland was born June 23, 1920 in Rockwood, Texas, to Byron and Mabel Hodges Holland. After serving in the Army in World War II he moved to Brownwood, Texas where he met and married Imogene Farris in 1949. In 1957 they moved to Grand Prairie, Texas and Houston Holland eventually became the owner of the beloved Prairie Dog Drive-In on Main St. Houston served in the Texas National Guard retiring as Lt. Col. Houston F. Holland in 1971. He loved designing and making inventions as well as hunting and fishing with his brothers-in-law. He loved serving in his church and had a vibrant faith in his Lord Jesus Christ, encouraging many along life’s path. Houston was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Imogene and his daughter Julia Claire Holland and his sisters Juanita Brown and Irma McCreary. He is survived by his sister Mabel McKnight of Lufkin, Texas, his daughter Victoria Holland Fowler and son-in-law George Fowler as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will all miss this wonderful man we loved so well. Visitation: 6pm to 8pm, Wednesday, April 23rd at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home in Grand Prairie. Service: 12:15 p.m., Thursday, April 24th at Bean-Massey-Burge Chapel with committal service to follow at 2:15 p.m. at DFW National Cemetery.
