Jimmy Harlan Cody was born on June the 23rd of 1937 to Harlan and Christine Cody in the town of Sulphur OK. Jimmy went to be with the Lord January 14, 2016. He was surrounded by the love of his wife of 52 years, Marvie Cody and that of his immediate family: their two sons Charles and William Cody.
Jimmy Cody was the first in his family to successfully achieve a higher education earning both a BA and a Master’s in Business Administration from what was then called NTSU (now the University of North Texas UNT). While working at jobs to pay for his education he was also pursuing what would become his life's passion: working as an athletic trainer for the "Mean Green" of UNT.
Those who knew him could immediately recognize that he was a visionary who with others saw the need for a radical change in the tools, treatments, and techniques in the field of athletic training. He will be remembered by many for his generosity and innovation. His passion would lead him to develop products designed to protect, rehab, and enhance the performance of athletes of all ages.
To honor his dedication to the field of athletic training the Cody family kindly asks that in lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions be made to: The Jim Cody UNT Athletic Training Student Scholarship Fund.
Visitation will be Thursday January 21, 2016 from 4-7 PM. At Funeraria Del Angel, 733 Dalworth St. Grand Prairie, TX. 75050.
Memorial Service and Celebration of his life will be held Friday January 22, 2016 at 1:00 p.m.at Funeraria Del Angel Dalworth Chapel officiated by his son Pastor Chuck Cody.
