Joseph (Joe) Glen Bacon, 50, of Grand Prairie Texas, passed at Medical City of Arlington on Sunday, April 5, 2020, due to complications of the flu. Joe was born in Kermit, Texas on September 29, 1969 to Jimmy Bacon and Laurette Scott.
After being honorably discharged from the United States Army, Joe began a 20 year career at AT&T before setting out on a new journey in HVAC. Joe was a child of God and knew his Lord and Savior. A servant at heart, Joe’s joy came from helping friends, neighbors and strangers alike, in any way needed. Joe could be found wherever a need existed and he was humbled that God placed him in a position to help his fellow man. In 1996, Joe met and married his wife Nancy and they shared 24 years of true love and commitment; both knew they were blessed to find their soul mate. But Joe’s greatest honor was that of being a dad and grandpa. Spending time and making memories with his children meant more to him than anything. Whether it was teaching them to fish, play soccer, drive or just gathering for family dinners, he always wanted to spend time with his family. When grandchildren came along, the size of this man’s already big heart grew even bigger and the smile never left his face. The memories Joe made with spending every possible minute available with his grandchildren will be cherished and brings his family peace, as the grandchildren were the missing puzzle piece for Joe’s complete joy and happiness on earth. “Papa” was truly the best.
Joe is survived by his wife, Nancy Bacon, son, Ryan (Kristina) Dickerson, daughter, Erin (Cory Wilson) Wimberly, four grandchildren; Madison Wimberly, Silas Wimberly, Ellison Powell and Cariana Wilson, father, Jimmy (Debbie) Bacon, mother, Laurette Scott, sister, Brandy Johnson, brother, Jarrod Bacon, dearest friend, Shawn Wimberly and a host of extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family sincerely requests a commitment that all of Joe’s friends and loved ones obtain an annual flu shot.
