Kennie was born on December 7, 1943 in Broken Bow, OK to Ardell Rowland and Mary “Melvin” Rowland. Kennie was a proud, life-long resident of Grand Prairie, moving here at the mere age of 3. He was a long-time member of Indian Hills Baptist Church where he faithfully raised his children to love the Lord. Kennie served in the U.S. Army as a Specialist E4, Staff Sergeant while also serving in the Honor Guard in San Francisco, CA from 1966-1968. Kennie was an avid horse lover and spent many years as an active member of various saddle clubs within the NARC & SP. It was this hobby, that enabled his children to pursue their own passion of riding horses. Most recently, Kennie welcomed “Penny” to the world and this precious foal was one of his most gratifying accomplishments. Kennie was the most selfless, generous, big-hearted person who was relentless in his willingness to care for others. Although he could drive you up the wall, his motivation was love-driven and his intentions were sincere. When Kennie wasn’t working to ensure everyone else’s needs were fulfilled, he was cracking jokes, giving “sound” advice, or engaging in thoughtful conversation regarding current affairs. Kennie spent his working career in many different areas, although his Custom Cabinet business was his most valued.
He is survived by his brother, VJ Rowland; his son, Bryan Rowland and Daughter-in-Love, Shannon Morgan; his daughter, Kristy Patterson and husband, Jarrod; his Grandchild Justin Rowland, as well as, Reece, Alex, Cayden, David and Fayeth. He is also survived by his cherished Sisters-in-Law, Olivia Swaner and Mary “Lynn” Worthen, along with his nieces, Stacy Weber and husband Sam, Gina Stefka and husband Charlie, Joanne Weber and husband Nate, and nephews Jay Swaner, Randy Worthen and wife Kristi, along with a handful of great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Marsha “Gail” Rowland, his parents, his brother, Wilburn Rowland and his dear Brothers-in-Law, Jerry Swaner and Jimmy Worthen and dear niece Jan Mitchell.
