Margarito Martinez Vega Jr. was born August 3, 1945 and passed away at Methodist Central Hospital in Dallas, Texas on September 14, 2020 of complications with his liver. This was a man of many facets. To his neighbors he was known as Nick, and to co-workers and family he was Mike Vega. All his nieces & nephews called him Uncle Lico.
He was married to Irma Ochoa Vega. Family meant a great deal to him. He spent his time supporting and loving his family. An employee of LTV for 35 years, he served in different capacities from painter to being a chemical technician.
He is survived by his wife Irma Vega; sons Jessie O. Vega and his wife Judy; and Jay E. Vega; daughters Margaret Kelly and husband Ted Locke; and Sylvia Chavez and her husband Benito; grandsons Matthew Shipman, Zachary Shipman, Lucius Sanabria, Jacob Vega, Joshua Vega, Isaiah Chavez and granddaughters Chloe Vega and Mia Kelly; brothers Larry Vega and his wife Jean, Richard Vega, Robert Vega, sisters Jususa Moya, Maclovia Salazar and husband Ray, and Cedia Hernandez and husband Charlie, Ada Martinez and husband Louis, Margaret DeDear, and many nieces and nephews. Those that preceded him in death were his parents Margarito Vega Sr. and Guadalupe Martinez; siblings Emelia Ortiz and husband Mercelino, Bonnie Torres, Lupe Vega, Oscar Vega, Manuel Vega and Caroline Velez.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on October 2, 2020 at St. Michael the Arch Angel Catholic Church at 2910 Corn Valley in Grand Prairie, Texas. The church can only accommodate 150 people with masks and spacing. A burial of the cremated remains will be at the Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery which is also limiting the number of attendees. Friends and family are invited to come and share their memories with the family at their home at 2722 Vivian Circle beginning at 3:30 PM.
