Marian Valerie Smith passed away February 10, 2014 at 55 years old. She was born October 30, 1958 in Houston, TX to Marion Orville and Danny Faye Newton. Marian’s family moved to Grand Prairie, TX when she was a young girl. While she was in the first grade she was hit by a car and spent 18 months in the hospital. She was not supposed to make it and had to wear a complete body cast. She was a good student but quit school when she was in the 11th grade so she could get married. Marian was an independent-stubborn, which means that she didn’t want people fussing over her. She was a wonderful homemaker who adored her husband and loved to take care of her children. Once while her children were young they went on vacation to Galveston, TX. During the trip her daughter Brandy wanted to go feed the seagulls. Marian knew that this was not a good idea so she yelled to Brandy “Don’t feed the seagulls.” This advice was not headed by her daughter who soon was swarmed by the birds; thankfully her mother was always looking out and was there to rescue her. Her greatest joy in life was taking care of her family. She helped raise her grandson, Jacob, while her daughter was in the military. Outside of tending to her family she loved cooking and baking and always did a big Thanksgiving Day meal. Marion may have been more of home body but that didn’t mean she didn’t like to have her adrenaline rush. She enjoyed watching scary movies and the T.V show CSI. She also loved to read Steven King books or any good murder mystery. Marian was also an animal lover, she has 7 dogs right now, all different shapes and sizes. More recently she was very excited about the new grandbaby, Corey that will be arriving soon. Marian didn’t spend lots of time watching sports but she would always keep an eye out for the Dallas Cowboys but was not a fan of Jerry Jones. She could be blunt and preferred the simple, laid back life of putting her family first. Marian was preceded in death by her mother and father; her sisters, Doris Williams, Sandra Margiolos and Orvilla Estes. She is survived by her husband, Lonnie A. Smith Jr.; daughter, Brandy Taylor and husband Lloyd; son, Bobby Smith and wife Tanya; and 4 grandchildren, Jacob, Shelby, Miles and Corey. Caring for her children and grandchildren brought her much joy.
