Mateo graduated from High School and enlisted in the United States Navy in November 1962. He served Honorably for over 3 years, achieving the rank of an E-3 Able Seaman and Boatswain's Mate. He also received training in Basic Military Procedure, Quarter Master 2nd Class training and spent time on the USS Elkhorn, before transferring to the Naval Reserve.
Our dad enjoyed playing pool, feeding everyone and anyone, including stray animals, spending time with his grandchildren, and was always cracking a joke. Mateo was preceded in death by his parents, Rodolfo and Herlinda; and son, Ronny Espindola.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Flor: sons, Daniel, Orlando, Rudy and Mario; daughters, Lena and Lorre; as well as grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters Yolanda and Zulim; and brother, Rudy and countless other family and friends who loved him immensely. Eternal rest grant unto him, oh Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he Rest in Peace. Amen
