Micaela Terrazas de Herrera, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025, in Sarasota, Florida, leaving behind a legacy rich in love and dedication.
Born on September 29, 1954, in La Campana, Durango, Mexico, to Raul Terrazas and Elvira Avitia. She was the eldest of fifteen children. She helped raise most of her siblings while also managing her family’s store and the town mail. She met the love of her life, Adrian Herrera, Sr. there, however, her parents decided to move to the city. She was part of the grand opening of La Soriana, in Durango and worked there for a couple years. A few years later, she moved to Illinois, where she reunited and married the love of her life, Adrian. She was a proud wife and homemaker, the heart of her household, where she lovingly raised their 4 children and managed her own home daycare. Once the family moved to Florida, she continued having home businesses: cake baking, clothing reseller, selling CDs and cassettes, known for bringing the hottest music hits available. She was the social butterfly of the family, making friends even in grocery lines, but she left it all behind for her 1st grandchild, Edwin. She was a proud grandmother and helped raise many of her grandchildren that came after. She dedicated her life to her family; helping those in need, spreading prayer and natural remedies along the way. Micaela’s warmth and kindness were evident in every aspect of her life. She was known for her unwavering support and generosity to others, always willing to lend a helping hand or sneaking some dollars into your hand or pocket. She always knew how to make someone feel better, especially through her blessings and prayers. She had a passion for cooking, sewing, knitting, baking, traveling, and praying. If she shared a recipe or prayer with you, know that she loved you dearly and had you under her protection prayers.
Micaela is survived by her beloved husband, Adrian Herrera Sr., who she spent 48 wonderful years with; her son, Adrian Herrera, Jr.; 3 daughters, Criselda Piña, Araceli Herrera, and Elvira Janet Herrera.
As well as, her 12 grandchildren, Edwin Herrera, Marianna Herrera Cruz, Leanna Cruz, Adrian Cruz, Lance Herrera, Ariana Herrera, Monique Herrera, Alexia Herrera, Christian Piña, Josiah Piña, Damian Herrera-Medina, and Ivan Herrera-Medina.
