

Nancy Rogers passed away March 12, 2015. She was born January 28, 1936 in West, Texas to Otis and Clara Ashley. Nancy grew up in West, Texas where she attended school through the 6th grade. She left school early to help her family by working in the local mill. As a teenager she worked in an ice cream factory. In 1953 she met George Rogers while she was hanging out with some friends. They were married in 1956 and moved to Hillsboro, Texas. After several moves and the birth of their son, they settled down in Irving, Texas.
Nancy worked for the Irving ISD as a food service manager. After 30 years of working she retired. Since George was retired also, they moved back to West, Texas. Eventually she got bored and went back to work for West ISD in the food service department for another 15 years.
Nancy was a quiet, reserved woman who was not afraid to share her opinion. She liked to do needle point, crochet and never missed watching Dr. Charles Stanley on TV. She was a member of First Baptist Church in West, Texas and enjoyed watching John Wayne and Sean Connery.
Nancy is preceded in death by her husband George Rogers and sister Geneva Skains. She is survived by her son Aaron Rogers and his wife April; grandchildren Jessica Rogers, Andrew Rogers, Avery Rogers; brother Otis C. Ashley and his wife Linda; nephews James Skains, Mark Skains, David Skains; nieces Terrie Low, Celeste Hudson and numerous great nieces and nephews.
