Roene Carol Yeager, a proud Iowan by birth and Texas by choice, passed away peacefully after a long battle with breast cancer at the age of 64. She will be remembered for her unwavering dedication, generous spirit, and fierce loyalty to her country, community, and family.
Born in Fort Madison, Iowa, Roene spent her childhood along the Mississippi River, spending countless hours on the water with her father and three brothers. She also worked tirelessly on the family farm, hand-picking green beans during long summer days with her siblings. A lifelong lover of sports, Roene played both softball and basketball during her two years in college.
In 1981, at the age of 20, Roene moved to Texas with her beloved younger brother, Randy. What began as a short visit to see friends became a permanent move—Texas quickly became home. Over the next four decades, she built a life rooted in hard work, community, and family. Roene spent 40 years working in warehousing, earning the respect of colleagues and supervisors alike. After retiring, she found a second calling with Texas Rangers Event Security, where she combined her passion for service, sports, and connecting with people.
Roene was also a proud member of the United States Army Reserves, serving for 36 years with the 302nd Military Police Company. She rose to the rank of Sergeant First Class, earning the admiration of those she led. Known for her strength, discipline, and compassion, Roene mentored and molded generations of young soldiers, leaving a legacy of leadership and care.
Outside of work and service, Roene cherished the simple joys of life. She found deep happiness in the outdoors with her wife, Karen—whether hiking, camping, or playing soccer. She was a constant presence in the lives of those she loved, offering her unwavering support and unconditional love.
Roene is preceded in death by parents, Robert Leo Yeager Sr. and Irene Mae Yeager; brother, Kenny Upton; brother, Robert Leo Yeager, Jr.; brother, Randy Yeager; and father-in-law, Bill Myers.
