Shanna was born in Fort Riley to the late Peter A. Moore Sr. and Dorothy G. Moore, who both preceded her in death. From an early age, Shanna carried a spirit of strength, compassion, wisdom, and grace that would touch countless lives throughout her journey.
She was a proud graduate of Fayetteville State University, where she cultivated the dedication and excellence that became hallmarks of her life and career. Shanna made a lasting impact through her work at the Family Support Center and FDIC, where she was known as an incredible co-worker, respected leader, mentor, and friend. Her kindness, professionalism, and unwavering support for others left an unforgettable impression on everyone blessed to know her.
For 37 beautiful years, Shanna shared a devoted and loving marriage with her husband, James Henry Best. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, family, laughter, and enduring love. Their bond was admired by many and served as an example of commitment and partnership.
Shanna was a proud and loving mother to her children: daughter Shalena Brown-Best; daughter Sabrina Best-Choto (Antonio Choto), and son Christopher-James Best. She is survived by her brother Ricardo Moore, sister Jean Moore and brother Peter Moore Jr.. Shanna was truly loved and blessed by family, and those who adopted our family as their own. She will be remembered by a vast number of nieces and nephews as well as extended family and long-time friends who have all become close enough to be considered family as well. Her family was the center of her world, and she poured endless love, wisdom, and encouragement into each of them.
A faithful servant of God, Shanna was a devoted member of Friendship Baptist Church. Her faith guided her life and was reflected in the compassion, generosity, and care she extended to others daily.
Shanna found joy in traveling the world alongside her husband and cherished the moments when her children were able to tag along on their adventures. She enjoyed spending time with family on Duolingo, always committed and consistent with learning together. She also treasured the simple moments in life especially staying up late with her husband watching reruns of Perry Mason, which he lovingly kept extended cable just so she could enjoy it. Known for her elegance and signature style, Shanna never missed an outfit without her signature pantyhose and her nails beautifully done.
While Shanna did enjoy a quiet evening at home she still knew how to throw a party that could last into the night, whether it was a family get together at her beautiful home or a night out at a social gathering she put together, she was always ready to have a good time with her friends and family.
To know Shanna was to know love, wisdom, and reliability. She was the person everyone turned to, the heart of the family, the problem solver, the fixer, and the steady source of comfort and guidance. Her presence brought peace, strength, and reassurance to those around her. Her joyous laughter, radiant smile and warm heart was always able to fill any room she entered. Her legacy of love, faith, resilience, and grace will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that her love and spirit will remain with them always and forever.
