Siegfried Gottlob Fritz

Siegfried Gottlob Fritz, age 87 passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 in Grand Prairie, Texas. Siegfried was born on September 4, 1937 in Stuttgart, Germany to Willy Fritz and Hildegard (Reiger) Fritz.

Siegfried joined the United States Army in December 1955. He received training in Chemical, Biological and Radiological Defense, Military Justice, the Geneva Convention and Code of Conduct. He received a Sharpshooter Badge with Rifle Bar and Marksman Badge with Carbine Bar. He was a Quarter Master Cook and Chef, eventually attaining the rank of Food Service Sergeant. Siegfried received several medals, including the Texas Faithful Service Medal, the Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, the Adjutant General's Individual Award, the Army Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

Siegfried married the love of his life, Karen Buchanan on September 20, 1963. He and Karen were members of Radiant Life Church.

After his time in the military, Siegfried drove a truck for Arnold Trucking. In his spare time he loved to work in the yard and especially enjoyed baking.

Siegfried is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Kimberly and his sister, Brunhilde Olschewski.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Karen; his daughter, Christine Mendel; grandchildren, Josh Mendel, Nicole Murray and Spencer Mendel; great grandchildren, Bryson, Branlee, Brylar, Chloe, Aida, Tracen, Lakelynn, Stetson, and Paitynn; and his siblings, Barbara Storms, Margret Altschuler, Marcus Fritz, Richard Fritz, and Bernhard Fritz; as well as, many extended family members and friends.

A visitation for Siegfried will be held Sunday, April 6, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Grand Prairie Funeral Home, 733 Dalworth Street, Grand Prairie, TX 75050. A funeral service will take place on Monday, April 7, 2025 at 11:30 AM at the Funeral Home. A committal service will follow on Monday at 2:00 PM at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211.
