Sylvia Jean Butler

Sylvia Jean "Baldie" Butler, age 63 of Irving, Texas passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2024 in Irving. Jean, and her twin sister "Curlie" were born in Lamesa, Texas on November 3, 1960 to Lonell Alexander and Ruby Lee Butler.

Jean graduated from Lamesa High School and went on to have three children, 2 sons and 1 daughter. Throughout her life, Jean developed numerous talents, including sewing, hair braiding, nail art and interior design. She was also renowned for her exceptional culinary skills, often crafting delicious meals from humble ingredients. Notably, Jean's greatest attributes were her wisdom, compassionate heart and her caring nature. As a devoted mother, sister, aunt and grandmother, she will be deeply missed; however, her passing brings and end to her suffering and she is now reunited with her Father, our Lord in Heaven.

Jean is preceded in death by her mother, brother and eldest son. She is survived by her spouse, Michael Butler; children, Evette Harris and Stanley Williams; grandchildren, Emya, Olivia, Raven, Billy, Massie, Iray, Qualla Butler, Carrie Gonzales and Syris Williams; great grandchildren, Ronteaz Otis, Soldier Burch and Ganna Massie; her sisters, Sylvia Glene "Curlie" Wellington and Olivia Butler; and a host of nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

A visitation for Jean will be held Tuesday, October 15, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Grand Prairie Funeral Home, 733 Dalworth Street, Grand Prairie, TX 75050. A funeral service will take place Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 11:00 AM, 733 Dalworth Street, Grand Prairie, TX 75050. Graveside service will follow at 12:30 PM at Southland Memorial Park, 1100 S.W. 3rd Street, Grand Prairie, TX 75051.
