

Terry Carl Kelly (64) of Grand Prairie, TX passed away June 17, 2013. He was born January 24, 1949 in Waxahachie, TX to Berthold Carl and Irene Kelly. When Terry was 15 years old he met Janet Lawson and they started dating. On December 27, 1968, after they both had graduated from high school, they married, spent 44 wonderful years in love. Terry was a man of many interests, a natural story teller, a vegetarian, goofy, and very smart. He had his master’s degree from Dallas Baptist University in Biblical Studies. He retired in 2008 after 31 years with the Dallas Morning News. He loved to take photographs and play with computers. He had a large collection of art books that accompanied a gallery of his own water color paintings, cook books full of recipes used when he took over the kitchen after retirement. As Terry got older he gained interest in exercising, starting, then cycling, participating in many races, including the “Hotter 'N Hell race”. Later in his life he also got his “para plane” pilots license. Terry loved his sports, playing soccer and cheering on the Rangers and the Green Bay Packers. During his travels after retirement, he created a travel blog (upandgone.us). Terry was above all a family man. He supported family in every way. He became involved in soccer, music, art and reading because of his sons. He is survived by his spouse Janet Kelly; sons Nathan Carl Kelly, Jonas Lawson Kelly, wife Jessica; mother Irene Kelly; brother Don Andrew Kelly and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Bert Kelly, and sister, Kathy Wolff.
