

Thelma P Holbrook, 97 of Grand Prairie, TX passed away February 28, 2014 in Arlington, TX. She was born September 23, 1916 in Floyd County, GA to Samuel and Bobby Skates.Thelma grew up and attended school in Rome, GA, where she also met and married William Alexander Holbrook when she was 17 years old. They lived happily in Rome, GA and had a beautiful daughter, Bobbie Jean Holbrook. Thelma was married to William for 59 years; during that time she enjoyed spending time with her family, which included a lot of cooking. Her specialties were chicken and dumplings and her famous banana pudding. She also looked forward to getting her hair done on Saturdays. Thelma was a member of Garden Lakes Baptist Church in Rome, GA. She helped raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren along with many other family members through the years.In 2000, shortly after the loss of her son-in-law, she moved to Grand Prairie, TX to be close to her only daughter and the family she had in the state.She is preceded in death by her parents Samuel and Bobby, her daughter Bobbie Jean and her husband William Holbrook. She is survived by her grandchildren Suzan Mills and husband Craig of Grand Prairie, TX, Lee Daniels and wife Deborah of Montevella, AL, Kim Daniels and wife Gladys of Birmingham, AL, Joe Acker and wife April of Austin, TX; great-grandchildren Dakota Mills, Chloe Mills, Tiffany Greene and husband Shaun, Kristen Nguyen and husband Vien, Heather Daniels, Jack Acker; great-great-grandchildren Isabella Greene and Payton Nguyen.Services will be held at a later date in Rome, GA.
